cultural competency training

Cultural Competency training introduces your employees to the ideas of workplace and customer diversity.  It shows employees how to use principles of cultural competence in the workplace and provides examples of best practices.  Cultural competency training is currently mandated for healthcare providers in New York State. It can be custom-tailored to meet different needs within the healthcare industry or to meet cultural competency training needs of companies that work in other industries.

For clients who operate globally we offer training and consulting in global cultural differences in performance management.  This type of training addresses cultural differences that exist in workplaces that are located outside of the U.S. and addresses the issue of achieving high productivity through culturally informed organizational leadership.

Diversity training and Consulting

Our practice of cultural competency and diversity consulting focuses on helping your company become a more productive place with the goal of diminishing incidents of culturally insensitive and biased behaviors.  We can prepare a comprehensive analysis of the inclusiveness of your organizational culture and provide you with a custom-tailored set of recommendations for best practices for developing an inclusive environment to suit your organization. We can also design instruments that will measure the levels of cultural inclusiveness that your employees use when they interact with customers and clients and provide recommendations based on the best practices of other successful companies.

Diversity training focuses on prevention of discrimination that may occur at the workplace based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin.  Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employers from discriminating based on the above characteristics.  Diversity training also allows your employees to understand how discrimination may arise from conscious or unconscious stereotyping.  It teaches employees and managers how to recognize one’s biases in the workplace and prevent these from becoming a basis for employee, customer, or client discrimination.

Our interactive diversity training includes group discussions, limited role-playing, and question and answer sessions.

The components of diversity training include:
